Default Help

Ok, so the first freeze of the year happened and my windows froze, making closing the driver door impossible. The window wouldn't recess. When the thaw happened a few hours later the window recesses but doesn't go back up when I close the door. Any help is appreciated.

Try rolling the window all of the way down then back up. Then see how it reacts when you bring close the door.

My parking brakes were frozen yesterday morning. Car wouldn't move.

Try this:

Proper procedure, manual page 2-41:

If the windows do not close automatically

If the power window automatic function (closing only) does not operate properly, perform the following procedure to initialize the power window system.

1. Push the ignition switch to the ON position.

2. Close the door.

3. Open the window completely by operating the power window switch.

4. Pull the power window switch and hold it to close the window, and then hold the switch more than 3 seconds after the window is closed completely.

5. Release the power window switch. Operate the window by the automatic function to confirm the initialization is complete.

6. Perform steps 2 through 5 above for other windows.

If the power window automatic function does not operate properly after performing the procedure above, have your vehicle checked by a NISSAN dealer.

Your Z should be still under warranty, bring it to the dealer, let them fix it for you.

This is something I hate about frame-less windows. My e36 M3 is the same way. I use this on my bimmer; the Z is tucked away so I haven't experienced the freezing problem yet.

Nextzett Rubber Care Stick Gummi Pflege, gummi pflege

It helps but I can't say it will completely prevent freezing/sticking windows.

I still have some Gummi Pflege left from when I owned a Bimmer. I still use it on the Z and haven't had any issues with freezing. Then again, I only take it out in decent weather and it is garage kept. Never had any problems with the Bimmer freezing during 10 years of ownership.

If the reset procedure described by jaedub does not work, try removing the battery terminal for a few seconds and then do the reset. Happened to me recently.
