Default Oil filter warning after 2,000 miles

I am concerned right now. My K&N oil filter only has 2,000 miles. When I started the vehicle, I was startled by an Oil Filter warning on the screen.

This never happened when I used a cheap-o oil filter at 4,000 miles.

I bought K&N oil filter because I thought it was the best one for our car.

You're talking about the minder on the left screen where the fuel gauge is located? If so, that is simply a mileage setting - probably from the previous owner if you recently bought it used. You can turn it off or reset it in the setting menu.

Your car's computer doesn't know anything about your oil filter, unless you forgot to tighten it and all the oil drained out. You're fine.

Did you reset the maintenance minder after replacing the filter?

I had the same reaction... freak out mode, pulled over checked oil, totally fine.

After owning a wrx with a larger turbo, I am used to going through oil like it's nothing, but this car uses little/none. Wrx = keep 2 quarts in the trunk at all times/should have come stock with air/oil sperator! (don't miss that thing for a second).

Just do about eight laps through that menu thing and clear it out (always annoyed during that process!). Yell at the dealership to reset it if you plan on having the oil changed there as they only reset it about 25% of the time.

I can never get mine to reset for the minder. I just turn it off. LOL Pain in the butt.

I remember getting this soon after an oil change. I figured it was a manual setup, reset, and then got a TPSM warning right after that....but that one wasn't a fluke alert, unfortunately.
