370z Bike Rack?
Hi,
Any suggestions on how to fit a bike rack on the Z? I know boofsquire made one that was discontinued 5 years ago. I found one but it's in lousy condition and over $400. I don't particularly want to drop that kind of money on a rack. There was an old thread on this forum about someone retrofitting a Thule to his Z, but it did not contain model numbers or similar and there are about 30+ different Thule models it seems. If I put in 370z roof rack in google this page pops up a few interesting crossbar links pop up but not sure if any would work and what other attachments I would need to hold a bike: discountramps.com jet.com Anyone have any suggestions in lieu of the boofsquire? I do have a Z sport model with the spoiler. Thanks! |

This is what I have been using for the last couple of years and I love it.
It doesn't fit your inexpensive criteria, I paid about $500 with the extra locking kit. It's also kind of cool in that there are other things that you can buy to carry golf bags, luggage, skis or snowboards. I love the ease of putting the rack on the car. It only takes a couple of minutes once you get the preliminary installation done. Nissan 370Z** Coupe Bike Rack® wi Installed on my car.

Don't mess up the Z with a bike rack if at all possible. I transport my bike to rides in the back of my wife's SUV. Also I don't really like the racks that mount the bike on the rear for fear of someone running into it & destroying the bike.

Sea Sucker should work fine. Im going to be using one to transport a SUP board on my 370z. I have 2 other vehicles but enjoy driving the Z the most when its nice out so its going to carry my stuff.

Yes. Don't.
And they make 2-wheeled things with engines now, too. You don't even have to pedal them.

I have a boofsquire in mint condition (no, I'm not selling) because after I purchased it, I realized that I could fit my Cannondale 54cm CAAD8 inside my Z.
Cover the strut brace with cloths/towels, take off both wheels, and put the bike in handle bars first, twisted to face up, chain & cassette topside. The front of the bike will rest on the strut, the back of the bike will fit inside the hatch, clearing the glass. Place another cloth or towel on top of the brakes/shifters because the glass will touch when you close the hatch (important if you've got tinting). Place the wheels on top of the bike. You won't have any other room for storage, though, except for the passenger seat. Keeping the rack in the hopes that I'll make that ski trip I've been meaning to go on for years. |

No one has tried those temporary low-cost crossbars mentioned in original post? They appear to be similar looking to the boofsquire from what I can tell. |

Sea Sucker has multi-mounts, but you're getting back into the $400-$500 range.
