Default flashing our HID's

So the last couple of times i flashed other cars to let them out or go first i got no response. i'm like hey idiot i'm letting you out! why are you just sitting there! Then i remember our lights take a couple of seconds to warm up. I also hear it's bad to flash our lights cause it can wear them out. What do you guys think. Does anyone else have a similar experience? Is it bad for our HID's?

They shouldn't take that long to warm up (a few seconds at most). And as for flashing, it's fine. The headlights are designed to be turned on/off many times. That being said, I stopped leaving my headlights on auto because they turned on everytime I pull into my garage during the day

Also, make sure you are flashing headlights on/off and not low/high beams.

No harm done with flashing high beams they're designed to do that.

IF you were pulling back the light stalk? The blue headlight indicator should flash.

IF thats the case the other driver was a idiot.

It's the Nismo trance. Don't worry about it. Your lights are fine. They were just admiring the car and they fell into lala land somewhere.

Agreed. The HIDs were designed to turn off and on. You are not going to damage them.

Cycling power to any circuit will reduce it's life. Even if not the bulb is not affected, the ballast will be. So turning the lights on and off is not the best option.

The headlight bulbs are always on full-blast and there is a shutter that blocks some of the light when in dim mode. The shutter moves out of the way for brights. There are only so many bright/dim cycles to the bulb but it will probably burn out before the shutter fails.

ya i pull back on the handle and i always do a quick double tap. it's a habit. it seems like there is a delay the the peoples reaction when i do it but only in my Z. that's way i was wondering about the not instant on/warm up couple of seconds. i guess i should stand outside and have someone do it so i can see for myself what's happening. just to add its only during the day.
