External oil cooler needed on recent Z?

Does the more recent Z with the factory oil cooler still need an external oil cooler for track day?

For track days definitely ditch the factory cooler.

Joke maybe, a "there, we fixed it" yes.
From what I’ve seen it works well enough for spirited driving in moderate climates. YMMV

I've got a 34row cooler from FI ordered (shows up tomorrow ) and most of the time I see it around 220°. During auto-cross is when I'd see it get 240°+, during a 97° day of racing I saw it sitting 250° and was getting close to 260°. I never hit the dreaded limp mode, but there were times I was really close.

Mines a 2013 where it has that factory oil cooler, really all it does is heat up your water temps faster, it's too small to transfer enough heat into the water and to the radiator during hard driving.

That's actually not tooooo bad, lol

Then again on a track you get a lot of air passing through the engine

I've got the Gamma oil pan and it seems to help quite a bit.... but for a track day I gotta believe you need a real cooler.

On 2010 Sport even without any additional factory OEM cooler, I have no problem at all for daily driving.

But for track days .. yes I guess you should have a pretty good one installed.
