How ironic they caused a $hit ton of scratches applying the product

The idea of having a brand new car painted seems nuts to me. I have already had bad experiences with having body work/respray work done. It turned out to be a disaster. My Infiniti was taken back to the shop 3 times, because they did not do good work. I'm not going through that hassle again.

Swirls and such won't require new paint. Use the cost of repairing/repainting the mirror to negotiate a lower price.
Or walk. I probably would if the scratch requires more than a good buffing.

If you took the Infiniti to a body shop, you need to find another one. There are shops out there that do good, honest work.
If you took the I to a dealer, that's what you can expect.

Right, I understand that. I am very into the detailing world, which is also why I notice EVERYTHING, that the average person probably overlooks. I'm sure most people wouldn't even have seen the scratch on the mirror. I am very doubtful that the scratch can be buffed out, as it is in the paint. It is more than a surface blemish.

I took it to a body shop that is located near an Infiniti dealer. They told me they work on Infinitis all the time, so I assumed I would be safe. As far as body shops and dealers go, I trust almost none of them. They are all about making the quickest/easiest dollar possible. Quality work is rare to find.

It will take some work to find a good shop but they do exist. I couldn't be more pleased with the shop that fixed my Z after I wrecked it. Log on to some local BBSs and ask for recommendations/warnings

They didn't paint it. They applied a "coating" as they called it. I know that it was just some stupid wax product that probably won't last more than a couple of months even though they claim that it lasts for five years

But the fact is they had to prep the car for application by polishing it. And they did a terrible job the first time. The second time was much better overall except for two panels. The third time was even better but there was still one long scratch on the trunk lid. I made them acknowledge that it was there and then drove off without letting them fix it.
