final thoughts on buying the Z instead of...
As I've posted, after trading the 09' Z in December of 2014, I began to miss it almost right away. By February, I knew I wanted a sports car again. Before settling on another Z, I played around with maybe a used Porsche Boxster or even a Cayman. But, to stay in the 25 to 28K ballpark, I had to find models that were older but not too many miles (20 to 50k). I found many nice examples in that price range but old. Then I researched common problems and fixes. No way would I be able to afford one with the high cost of maintenance even if nothing went wrong. Service, repairs, all of this was much more expensive than I had imagined. When I found a 2015 base with only 2900 miles for $25.600, the choice was obvious. Now I am glad I took to time to check into costs of keeping on the road the cars I was considering.

Wow, I am glad I paid attention to what I read. Usually I get it in my head that I must have this or that, don't bother to consider the pros and cons, and sometimes make a big mistake. This time, I did some research and same as you, I sleep better at night. Plus, the Z crowd is way cool anyway.
Kenchan: Not yet. I had to come up with money for work on my wife's car and then, when I bought the Z, pay the taxes. Mudzouri and Jackson county hit you for everything they can. I am broke and its Christmas. After all this clears up, I will do so. And by the way, thanks for the great advice too. I appreciate it very much. |

Yeah, a lot of people don't consider the price of ownership, only the initial buy-in. I think that this is where the Z really comes in as a value. You get a pretty solid performing car that is not too expensive on maint & repairs. Heck even a used GTR if you want to go that way will still be pretty stiff on maint & repair cost.
