Lmfao clutch in 5th or 6th. Dont listen to him, he's f*cking with you, just put ignition to ON position and put it in 2nd(some do it in 1st) and push the car, make sure no one is standing in front of the car and you have room to drive. Once it starts, thats it go to neutral.
P.S. i did not have to do it on this car specifically, but that's how its done.

Back in the 70's, yes the 1970's, I drove a Datsun 1600 roadster and I was a broke college student.
The starter went bad and I could not afford a new one. For about 6 months I had to bump-start it everywhere I went. The car was light enough and I had a decent clutch, so I could actually do it myself. Dates were fun. A few times I got boxed in and it took a little bit of jockeying the car from its parking spot to get it on the street. I miss those days.

what you forgot to say is to depress the clutch... pretty sure if you just put it in 2nd gear you won't be able to push the car

Which gear to use depends on the engine (compression ratio), transmission (gear ratio), and how much traction you have. A hi-comp engine, in first gear, on gravel will probably just slide the tires across the top of the gravel and the engine won't spin.
I used second or third gear for push starting, but it's been many years since I needed to push start a vehicle and there were few transmissions with more than four gears back then.

Wait a minute here. All you guys talk about how to push start the car but has anyone actually successfully push started an '09 and up 370z? Does it work with the push button ignition?

Excellent question. The FSM or Owner's Manual should tell you if it's (im)possible. Once the ignition is turned on, it should be able to fire up with a push (only difference is the source of power to spin the flywheel) but you just never know with a newer car. If I still had my Z, I'd try it and see what happened.
