Default Auto Tranny Question

So this being my first auto tranny, I experienced something today that made me go .

I was at a carwash and put the car in P, but didn't release the brake pedal. Typically, once I release the brake pedal after putting in P, the car slightly moves forward. Anyways, once I put in P, I needed to move up a bit and put it back into D, but heard a few clunking noises.

Kinda scared me. Anyone ever do this?

I wouldn't worry about it. Probably just movement from the brake pads.

To me it happens everytime I'm up on a hill and I go from P > D, there is a clunk noise. I think its just normal operation. This also happens with my old man's FX35. Has to be normal, I think.

lol that reminds of youtube videos where people abuse the living crap outta rental cars, going like 60 mph and slamming the shifter into park

no, bc my foot is firmly pressed on the brake. like the car didn't move and a clunking noise came upon moving the shifter.

I think it's normal, it's happened to me here and there when I've parked on a slopped driveway. It's a loud clunk sound when shifting into Drive.

Normal.

The Parking Gear sometimes holds a lot of pressure once the cars weight lays on it. Similar to if you parked the car on the hill and didn't use the Parking brake, all that weight shift to the parking gear. Once you put it back in Drive/Reverse it kinda "forces" back out of park. If you pull the handbrake before you put it in park, the parking gear wont be carrying the weight of the car, the handbrake will.

If you would like to have have me solve the theory of relativity next , please let me know lol
