Best Device to measure 0-60 times
Hey guys,
What the best device to track your 0-60 times? I did a search and couldn't find an answer specific to my question. (Not an APP for your phone but a specific device) Do any of you guys have a recommendation? |

Drag strip
Or this thing is pretty slick if you have private property to use Wireless Auto Cross Timing Package

I think there are some apps that will take OBDII info and determine a 0-60 time, but I think the data extrapolation/interpretation by the app makes it inaccurate. To what degree, I do not know.

The Torque app with and OBD2 scanner says they can do it. As Jar points out, not sure how reliable it is. I believe it depends on the capability of the GPS in your phone. BTW Torque is an Android app only. I also bought this BlueTooth OBD2 adaptor. It came with some MS Windows software as well. There are far cheaper OBD2 Scanners out there, I liked this one since it came with software as well.

The issue with any device is the sample rate of the sensors.
I run a data logger with a 10HZ GPS. I *think if I tried to measure 0-60 time I would have to allow for it being a tenth off at start and another tenth at the 60 mph mark. I also use an OBD II device, but that thing only samples twice per second in the Z. I ran it in someone else's car and the sample rate was much higher. The Wireless Auto Cross Timing Package listed above will give you good time for distance covered but it has no idea what speed you are traveling at any given moment. |

I use Vbox and it is extremely accurate and I can chart graphs as well to get a better understanding of the run
http://www.vboxmotorsport.co.uk/inde...performancebox ive been doing a lot of heavy acceleration testing the last 2 weeks ( 0-60 1/8th 1/4 and 60-130) and have learned a lot. been testing on both on the strip and street and the Vbox matched all results within 1/10th less than 1 mph. Vbox was dead on with my 1/4 and 1/8th mile runs and the only difference is it measures terminal speed to 660 and 1320 feet where the time on your slip is an average taken just before. for instance slip was 126 Vbox was 127 here is 0-60 per magazine standards MT R&T C&D without weather adjustment Last edited by MC; 04-24-2015 at 08:24 PM. |

Funny story about 0-60.
The day I got my license and my first car ('86 Acura Integra), buddy and I wanted to see what it would do 0-60. So we go to the flattest road in town...which happened to be in front of a park. Stopwatch in hand, we do some runs. About 3 runs...flashing lights behind me. Pull over and the cop asks what the hell we're doing driving 60 in 20. Tell him honestly the entire story (first day driving, new car, etc.). He laughs, lets me off and tells me about a good country road to go do it on... |

More accurate than a cell phone app because it uses up to 12 satellites to calculate times. I use it in my driveway for 60' times, lol.
