Throttle response ?
When i try to blip the throttle. the engine RPM doesn't respond very quick. it takes a couple of seconds for the engine to return to idle. Are you guys seeing the same thing? i have heard other Nismo owners complain about it and it seems to only be the Nismos. is there any fix for this?

Not true at all. The throttle is laggy on all Zs. A tune helps assuming they spend some time on the throttle tables. There's a long thread about it. You could bring the latest map from that thread to your tuner.

Yeah i get the laggy part too, but what i'm wondering about is the amout of time it takes to return to idle when... say your at a stop light and just rev the motor a bit. it's not quick and crisp it's more of a long and drug out for several seconds thing.

This will help, at the expense of noise. Possibly lots of noise. There's a 50-50 chance you would really regret a lightweight flywheel.

Yep. It slows the closing of the throttle plate when you lift to help with emissions. God forbid there be some unburnt fuel in the atmosphere.

I believe the slow return to idle is to make the car easier to drive, and shift, as well it's easier on the drivetrian. I'm just annoyed with the lag in the 2000rmp to 3000rmps, I really want that to go away.
I'm running the South Bend 19lb steel flywheel, with their 3rd stage clutch and pressure plate. There was a little bit of improvement on the return to idle lag, though I do get some of the trans gear rattle while under load low rpms, and a slight rattle just off idle when reving the engine. They say it's completely normal with single mass flywheel, but I don't think it's loud or annoying, and it goes away durning normal driving rpms. I've also heard something about it's important which trans oil you use, and that there are a couple that help with that noise, also I'm sure aluminum flywheels would make a fair bit more noise though. |
