So how can I make her faster, w/o TT or SC?

Bolt ons are pretty expensive for our vehicles. You have the 4 major bolt ons, Exhaust, intake, headers, Test pipes/High flow cats or you could just do long tube headers. With my mods I was able to make 324hp to the wheels. 300-330ish is really all you are going to see after bolt ons and a tune, other than that its FI or Nitrous for real power.

drop in filters and post maf tubes, you wont lose low end but gain power from mid-high end
imo the nismo Z is so balanced stock, its hard to justify doing any mods without some negatives plus most N/A mods only add top end power and you lose so much low end, just save up for a supercharger or turbo kit depending on where you live |

Without TT or SC? I assume you want to keep your warranty... as do I, but the expensive truth is that both are the most efficient means of increasing power or Nos being the alternative... which would probably void your warranty. Maybe an engine swap?

my mods will end up costing me right about 5k total when you account for the fact that I have to have a shop do the installations. That is fairly expensive but that seems to be a good ballpark to commit to if you're not going to go TT or SC.

You need to take him for a ride so he can see what that is like.........before he puts the NISMO on a diet. About 3k will get you all the bolt-ons you need and a tune (if you turn the wrenches yourself). I personally went the TT route AFTER much much much deliberation, research, and discussion with various people/companies.

i was replying to a guy who suggested engine swapping or nos plus engine swapping will cost you 5k in parts alone assuming you are gonna do everything and you wont make as much power as a TT or SC build(the cheapest swap would probably be an LS1 swap and the LS1 engine makes 430 crank, a supercharger will give you 450 at the wheels) Last edited by luigi90210; 12-25-2012 at 11:24 PM. |

Not a big fan of Nitrous... as it is really just a temporary boost in power.
OP its either do the 4 major bolt ons (intake, headers, test pipes and exhaust) get a tune and call it a day. You can then move on to a better clutch setup and possibly 4.08 gears to make it feel faster. But if that doesn't fix the speed / power needs, there is no choice but to s/c or tt the damn thing. The way I built my old Nismo, was bbk and suspension mods, then bought a nice cat back for the time being. when the power itch couldn't be pushed back anymore, I TT'ed it. Worth every penny on the highways when you are cruising and switching lanes in 6th gear, never needed to down shift lol
