Default Increasing resale value

Hi Gang, it's been a while.

With the certain introduction of the new Z I'm questioning myself about changing to a different chasis platform & power train. Both of which will not fit with the new Z that's slated to be introduced for the 2021 model year. It's a given that the car will not be updated as a ground-up redesign but rather just a new model that has more horsepower, tweaks on the body design and interior improvements. enough said.

my plan is to sell my 2015 Nismo/tech/AT with no mods. Inefitably, revamped "new" cars will make previous generation cars depreciate very quickly. I just hate to take a BIG financial hit when I sell the car as it's been the best car I've ever owned, it's my daily driver.

Would it be sensible to add mods to help the resale value or would I be wasting more money?

Kind Regards

I would not add any mods, mods are more of a personal choice as to how you like your Z. KBB/CarFax any of those places do not have a section for mods... Just keep it stock if you are going to sell it... Then the seller can do what they want....

Any time you add mods. You will not recover that money when you sell.

You lost money the second you paid for this car.

Mods don’t make the car more profitable.

As you mentioned and I suspected, mods are a waste of money and yes, all cars loose money the day you drive it off the lot. The car is nearly 6 years in age and I've enjoyed it emensley. I just have my reservations about the 2021 and the Nismo edition will likely be introduced in 2022.

Bottom line is that the next owner of the car is going to get a heck of deal when I sell it!

Thanks guys

As others have said, mods won't help you in this case. For what it's worth, you shouldn't be buying these types of cars if your worried about resale value. Actually any car for that matter lol . . . just kidding

But seriously, I know someone who just recently passed. It reminds you of how seriously fragile our lives are and how fast it can end. We hear it all the time but never hits us until it effects someone you know.. Life is to short to worry about re-sale value of a car, esp if that car has brought you so much fun and joy and continues to do so. You will never regret those types of things. Live your life, enjoy the car, and should you decide to sell that beautiful machine you currently own, make sure the new owner is just as appreciative as you were when you first bought it and keep smiling with the new z and keep having fun, we need more moments of this in our life.

Asus: Appreciate the comments. As you probably noticed in my profile, i'm up there in my age and yes, ole-fart is hyphenated! I'm on Medicare and will be eligible in Dec for Social Security Checks to begin! For me it's only a number but I intend to go in style. It's time for my retirement dance.

I've always purchased vehicles that seperates me from the herd. Love the Cameros, Stangs and the Mopars but you can't drive a block and NOT see one....they're everywhere. As I mentioned, I've love my daily driver Nismo but its technology is "dated". The competitors have significantly upped their game and the 370 platform is now obsolete. The challenge I have is taking my wife for a drive in the car. I love to drive...period, but he tight suspension will have you slurring colorful metaphors while "wearing" your Starbucks Latte and make a trip to the dentist for loose fillings!

When I do sell the car, it will be a sobering day and the Z will go down as one of my all time favorites (when my wife isn't complaining)! Lol

Yes life is too short and I've never taken things for granted. But I'll never loose my childhood innocence and indulge in the things that bring me pleasure such as a good drive or the day at Barber Motorsports.

Kind Regards

Just keep the car clean & original as possible for max value
I’d try & sell car outright vs trading in,if you’re not in a rush to sell when time comes

How do you think Corvette owners feel ? They are going to take a pounding in value as domestics fair worse than imports.

The best way to increase resale value is to find a chump buyer.

I know I'm late on reading this post, but I think this comment right here sums up why the majority of us are here. Pure love of the Z! Yes we all want to get the best deal we can when we spend money in general, but if it brings you true joy, its worth every penny! When I bought mine two years ago, I honestly got a really fair deal. But did I see others who got better deals after? Of course I did! Did I regret it? Not for one single minute!!! The feeling I get when I drive my car is priceless. Good luck with it all and I hope the next owner feels the same.
