Default Downside To Vendor Supply

One of the biggest downsides to me moving into a Japanese sports car is the "lack" of aftermarket bolt-on go fast goodies.

With Corvette, Camaro, Mustang there are butt loads of aftermarket go faster accessories. For Nissans (370Z), their few and far.

Why is that?

Just take one look at the sales numbers. Nissan doesn't sell anywhere near 100K Z's every year like those domestics do. They sell about one tenth of those numbers.

Far fewer Z sales = far fewer potential customers for aftermarket sales

Japanese car is going to have mostly Japanese support. Keeping in mind the Nismo is a subset of the 370 and you're going to have less since it's an even smaller total upper limit of prospects (even though there's enough support by my reckoning - 3-4 different makes of bolt-ons, etc).

Example: less Z06 parts than regular. LS1 had huge support because the engine was shared. LS6 not quite as much. Etc etc. How many Japanese aftermarket brands did stuff for Vette, much less Z06?

Hopefully, this will change. GM is finally getting on the bandwagon and introduced TWO new V6 engines their moving too. Emissions is forcing them too. A V8 will never be as effecient as a V6. No matter how much tech is built in. They have now maxed the LS series and LT series V8's. Granted, 20 years ago 30mpg for a V8 was UNHEARD of or imagined.

They are doing it now. But, moving beyond is another story.

My 427 cu in Vette motor could return 26 mpg if drven 'normally'. Add: and it was capable of lighting the tires up in third gear at 100 mph....(LS7).

100's of exhaust choices, good amount of intake choices, plenty of HFC/TP's, about 5 header choices, 2 intake manifold choices.

Are you looking for market saturation to drive prices down?

The prices are stable because trusted vendors are trusted with tons of reviews. Some prices have dropped like Z1 headers introductory header price, but Stillen Gen 3's have stayed about the same because general consensus is they are the best and as long as they are selling they have no incentive to lower the price. Shop around Black Friday for best deals.
