Default Interested in 370Z...... Doing research

A Little back ground. I retired at 55 six years ago and crossed a few off my bucket list,, I had a G37, two Corvettes 05/08 C6 Convertibles, sold them to try a 2012 Mazda Miata SE....Just sold the SE and now taking the 370Z for a look.

I recently bought a 2016 TRD Sport Tacoma (will always have a Tacoma) Wife drives a 14 CRV. We are cash and carry buyers so the used market will be ripe fr the picking.

I have a neighbor who has a roadster so there is some information there. I am sure I want a rag top. Although I have not driven the coupe.

SO I will suck up as much information as possible like a sponge to determine if this is the next inline. I am a huge Toyota Fan . I did have an Infiniti G37 but Infiniti dealers are WAAAAAY better than the Nissan Dealership in so far as one is treated.

I am looking for a straight touring model. No frills no performance, wheels or suspwnsion mods, Just a loaded stock ride.

The rag top on the Z's are prone to issues that will likely cost you thousands to keep replacing, my friend with a Z roadster replaced his 4x in the last three years! He's now out about $3500 on the tops alone. Another food for thought is the stock manual transmission on the Z. Do a quick Google search for "370Z CSC " you will find many threads on this topic so you know what to expect.

Hate to say this, but if you're looking for a zero problem 370Z with the luxuries go for a touring coupe 7AT (FPenvy is having hard on reading this ).

YEah I am used to the Retractable Hard top....I will likely go with the Coupe this time. Car looks much better as a Coupe as the bubble butt is more subdued,

My first Vette was a MT. Second an AT. Miata and G37 both ATs,,,,,I prefer the AT. I am not tracking or Autocrossing. I just want a Touring model I can enjoy a cold beverage with while driving not to be interrupted by having to shift. Don't need the Sport options.Creature comforts........

The automatic Zs run great, and the paddle shifting works extremely well. However, I'd recommend a sprint booster for the AT given the throttle lag.

Love my touring sport roadster and second the sprintbooster or windbooster for added fun with the auto transmission. Purchased mine 8/1/15, 17k on its clock to date, zero issues and gobs of stares which end in grins

2010 Roadster here with no top concerns, 18,500 miles on it. I have the top down daily. Don't let a few folks bad experience sway you from the model you want.

Based on what you've said above, a touring 7AT is the way to go. And if you're worried about the top, get an extended warranty on a certified pre-owned. Not sure if it covers the top, but worth a try. Good luck in your search!

I have a sport+touring.

Like others said, don't skimp on the Sport. It just makes so much more car, especially since you don't plan on going mod-heavy.

Lack of telescoping wheel kinda will always leave you a tad short of a perfect fit, but nothing horrible.

Coupe's trunk switches can go bad. There are some fixes (search it). I personally don't have much use for the trunk anyway. To open it, I do need to push and lift at the same time.

On the note of drinks, cup holder is limited to cans and the 20oz bottles because the shape is fixed. No chance fitting an XL/Super Size, etc cup in my experience. Unlike the G37, there's only one center cup holder as well.

So far, I haven't had a happy passenger in my car, always having to hold their stuff. Then again you had a Miata so I assume you and the wife coped with similar limited space.
