Thumbs up Hi all @ the370z.com from UK

Hi all @ the 370z.com,
This is my first post as I,ve just joined your great club (been reading posts as a guest for a little over a week) I have just been initiated into the world of zed cars as I just purchased a 2010 370z gt manual 6 speed coupe last week....what a car, what have I been missing up til now?
..........I've always been a car nut ever since I was tall enough to reach the pedals in my grans old 1970s ford when I was around 10 years old or there about. Previous cars I've been fortunate enough to have owned include a couple of 'jap' 2 seat convertables and a multitude of somewhat sensible but boring saloons and several Jaguars the most recent being a 2004 XKR coupe, what a car great speed in a straight line but a little loose in the bends/corners especially on our narrow twisty roads over here in the UK, but my latest pride and joy (370z coupe gt) is just absolutely amazing, I think it's just about got everything covered sporty, looks fantastic, handles superbly and is rather quick ....can't wait to put my own touch to it, I have some great modding ideas but time and funds will tell just how far I take it, got some great info/ideas from here already will post pics as and when and will introduce my new treasure on the 'new owners area as soon as I have read up how to add pics etc. look forward to learning more from this great site, hope to make new zed friends and of course benefit from your collective knowledge of these great cars...........all the best tatooandy67

Where abouts in the UK. I'm in the States but mum's family is all in England. I've always wondered what driving a performance car is like in the UK what with the differences in population density, speed cameras, etc.

I get to London a couple times a year since the 70s and have yet to drive there!

Hi, I'm in Birmingham, west midlands..........I completely agree the speed cameras are a PITA as is trying to drive 'expressively' in the city, however due to my location I can reach deserted country lanes within about 15 mins and then .....no speed cameras, no pedestrians, no traffic lights etc so the thrill of driving ones car as it is meant to be driven is readily available (of course I never break the local speed limits )....country lanes or B roads as we Brits call them are long, winding and sometimes challenging roads for the spirited driver quite often deserted for miles without a speed camera in sight, oh what joy to be had on the right day at the right time in the right car (obviously a zed is my vehicle of choice at the moment) spirited driving is still available without upsetting local law enforcement as long as you know where to find it, how about your side of the pond I bet there 's miles upon miles of unspoilt tarmac over in US

Thanks
My zed is all stock at moment only purchased 10 days ago but cash flow permitting that's soon to be changed. Thinking performance air filters and exhausts first I have a few ideas but would like to listen to some before taking the plunge, don't want to be too noisy as I live in built up area and have to consider neighbours got a mate who builds custom in his workshop so will talk it over soon I hope can't wait

There is increasing use of speed cameras, but nowhere near the extent faced by UK and European drivers - was it Spain or Portugal I saw one every 10 m (we are like that with McDonalds)? There are plenty of areas that you can get away with a little bit of speed testing and winding roads are abundant enough that you can test lateral acceleration.

When I was in graduate school, I did research in western North Carolina and drove an unusually windy road with regularity (perhaps 100 times). Mind you this wasn't in a Z, but in a Chevy 3/4 tonne truck. Turns out this was actually a quite well known road called "Tail of the Dragon." I haven't driven it yet in the Z, but it is on the short list of things to do. Have a look on YouTube.

I think that is where we are comparatively fortunate; we still have an abundance of open roads, spectacular scenery, and opportunities to drive it. We also took all the extra "U"s out your words that don't really need them, allowing us to better to compete in spelling contests.
