Hello, my name is Ken. I've lived in Manhattan for over 30 years, all the while owning American performance cars; Camaro Z/28, Mustang Bullitt and for the last 15 years, two different Corvettes, all of these cars with manual transmissions. While keeping a car in an indoor garage in the City usually leads to multiple dings, dents and scrapes, I found a garage years ago where half the spots are on lifts, negating those difficulties.
I sold my 2013 Corvette Grand Sport last August. Purchased new, it was a great car, but it has been better not having a City car during this current crisis. Now thinking of buying a new 370Z manual Sport. Very little current local dealer inventory, so likely need to order a car. In speaking with local dealers, none have an estimate as to when the factory will open for orders to be produced. So, waiting with interest for more information as it becomes available Thanks, Ken |

Welcome to the forum!
Have you considered buying pre-owned? You'll save a lot of cash and the availability is much better. Another option you may want to consider is waiting for the new Z to be released (possibly called the 400Z).

Most would say a 370Z is better off a pre-owned purchase. Looks like some CPO's are in NJ and PA, and I assume there's a lot keeping NY from operating right now.

NYStockboy,
I agree with Spartan 1771. I purchased my 2016 Touring Sport Roadster used with 5000 miles on it and saved just shy of $16 000 over new at that time in 2017, not to mention the tax on that $16 000. The car just comes out when its nice, and most people think its brand new. What's not to love about that? Gene |

Welcome to the forum.
Ordering a any new vehicle right now is hit or miss. Mostly miss. The virus really got things screwed up.

Thanks for the replies. Seems like very low mileage year or two old Z's have asking prices fairly similar to what would be a presumed after negotiation price on a new one.
I have no car now, so I want to take an Uber to a town that has the right car in stock, negotiate a fair price on a new 6 speed Sport and drive home that day to the garage where I kept the Vette and get the same lift I had for years for the Vette. A perfect automotive day. I can dream, right? Thanks, Ken |

I'm naive to car ownership in Mahattan but aren't all of these performance cars including the Z useless in such an environment?

I don't drive these cars around Manhattan, but to leave Manhattan. I live on the Upper East Side, very near to the Triborough Bridge, which takes me out of Manhattan to Long Island and our friends, beaches and other recreational areas. Very often, even in the Winter on a sunny day, my wife and I will get in the car just to cruise, go to lunch, just clear our heads with a crisp drive out of the city. Typically, without in any way limiting our driving, we drive about 3000 miles a year, that's just the way it works out. And we have been doing it this way since around 1988, when we bought an '88 Camaro IROC Z28. My daughter was born soon after and we had a car seat in a Camaro. No Problem!
Thanks, Ken |

There you go, I loved mine as well.
By the way, do you know why my thread says it was moved from the general area? What area did you see my latest post to be able to reply to that post? Thanks, Ken |
