New Owner 2014 370Z
Hi all,
Just purchased a 2014 370Z used with 5800 miles on it. It is pearl white, touring edition, with light grey interior. I used to own a 300ZX Turbo, yes with the electronic dash, and a 260Z. But this 370Z is the nicest. Absolutely love it. I have done a few things to it. I put a Ark DT-S exhaust system in it, twin cold air K&N air intakes, and have a wing to put on the back. I have also quieted the car down some for road noise by putting in dyna mat in the trunk area. That knock off 6db and plan to do the passenger and driver areas to knock out a few more. That really helps. Looking for some more ideas as it is a fun car to customize. Ranz370. |

RANZ, Welcome!!! I also recently acquired a 2014 touring sport. a few more miles though.....
I did the dynamat in the back and cabin and some other steps to quiet down the radial noise. If you want, do the following: Get 2 cans of spray in liner coating like bed liner. Autozone - 14.99 a can. There are some holes in the back hatch area that you can put the spray into and it really cuts out the exhaust drone vibration. There is a very noisy gap between the visible surfaces and the real outside surface back there. Same spray cans can also be useful in the hard to reach spots in the rear wheel well areas. DO NOT OVER COAT!!!! and don't spray electrical so much. Do moderate spraying on a Friday PM and let car sit open in a garage if at all possible. Disconnect battery terminal to save battery. By Sunday AM fumes have all but gone away - so long as you use a fan to circulate the air in the cabin. Yes you will need to reset clock and some other NAV features if your ride has NAV. To cut more db - get 4 cans of rubberized under coating - 7.99 a can. Remove the front wheel well liners. Protect the suspension and brake components. 1 can per wheel well is what I did. Then re-installed the front well liners. That's what I did and it's about the same sound now as my Maxima or wife's Rouge. The other I still have to post up in DIY section: Get the inches in diameter of the tops of your springs. 4.5" in Rear and 5.75 in Front if memory serves. Google search - Coil Spring Dampeners - and there is a link for Andy's Auto Sport. There are some coil spring rubber cushions you can get that greatly quiet the rough road noise. You can cut them to fit if needed..... Finally - I got some rubber sheet material that was the thickness of a quarter or almost a nickel. I traced the strut top mounts and cut it to match. poke holes for the studs. Put the rubber between the strut head and the chassis metal. Re-Torque the bolts and bingo!!!! I have other Z drivers here locally that swear there is something up with their Z as mine is STUPID quieter than theirs. The final step - look at tires that are designed for sport cars but are tread patterned for quiet ride. there are many for 18" - but few are sized for the Z with 19" wheels. |
