Anyone living in MO/KC and using car as DD?

I am struggling with making a decision regarding my 2013 sports package Z. The OEM tires at 13K miles seem to be wearing out. I can purchase and install Blizzaks

Default Anyone living in MO/KC and using car as DD?

I am struggling with making a decision regarding my 2013 sports package Z. The OEM tires at 13K miles seem to be wearing out. I can purchase and install Blizzaks ($1200+) and then after the winter, I would have to buy summer or all season tires. Another option is to just buy good all season tires that handle the mild winters where I live (Southeast Missouri) and I would not have to buy additional tires.

I do not track or do extreme stuff with my Z.

Any recommendations??? One person argues that there are good all season tires that are just as good as Blizzaks in mild snow, slush, ice and cold weather and another that says the Blizzaks are far superior, that all season tires are not very good in the winter and not that good in the summer either, that I should get Blizzaks and a good summer performance tire.

Check out General's G-Max AS-03. It is arguably the best 4 season tire out right now. There are tests on YouTube comparing it to specialized tires and it fares very well. It does not beat the specialized tires in their specialty but does very well in all areas.

I would not put those tires on a Z, and I doubt that any of those reviews are compared to the typical tires that people put on the Z. Frankly, I don't think all seasons belong on a Z at all. Snow tires for winter and performance tires for the rest of the year.

As a long time KC resident. I would park it for the winter, well any time it snows. I have owned a 350 and 2 370's and must say hands down the worst car I have ever owned in the snow.

I remember one year, even with snow tires, being pushed out of a parking space because I couldn't move. I' sure with some weight in the back it would of helped but I have a bad feeling this winter will be one of the worst we have seen in a long time. Just look at what it is going to doing mid week. Ugh...

I agree that having a set of winter tires and a set of summer tires is optimal or even having a winter car but sometimes the expense can be a factor. Here is a link to one of Tire Rack's video tests.

It's a good value tire that can still perform in 4 seasons.

Like I said, that comparison is not against any of the typical tires you see people use on the Z. Those tires are all value-based. And none of them is good enough for the Z. You might as well get rid of the car if you're putting such crappy tires on it

Ended up buying a set of wheels and Blizzaks. They should arrive next week. The plan is to go for Winter and summer sets rather than all season tires. The question is how long will my OEM summer tires last. They have 12.5k miles now. The front look worse than the rears. Is that normal?

I think that was the smart decision

Some people don't get 10K out of the OEM tires. Check the tread depth to determine when you need to replace them. Most people recommend replacement at 3/32" tread depth.

That is most definitely not normal. My first guess would be your alignment. Toe is probably out.
