Default The Red Nismo

I've been on this forum for some time and I wanted to document my journey with my experiences with the 370z platform.

To maintain continuity, I'd like to write about my 2011 Nissan 370z sport. I bought the car in March 2017 with about 75,000 miles. The car was later totaled on May 2019 (at about 85,000 miles) because another driver ran a stop sign that essentially forced me into a double T-bone collision. I believe the car was once owned by Adamnthe_z.

My instagram is dudeseriousle. So, if you'd like to keep up with the journey you could follow that account.

I was full time student and had a part time job so there wasn't that much room to save but after about a year I was able to afford the air suspension. The system I went with was the Airlift 3P and I absolutely loved it. I did own a Toyota Celica before this (first car) but I didn't ever do anything besides plasti dip the wheels. So, this was first "mod" ever. I was super nervous but I was able to install the kit all by myself. I just took my time to really put my all into the install and to completely understand how the entire system works.

It took 7 days because I had other things to do throughout the week. I was able to pick up the management, compressors (440cc and 400cc), 5 gallon tank, airlines, and fittings from a local on the facebook marketplace for about $1000. I bought brand new airlift front and rear struts for about $2000. So in total it only cost me $3000 + some tools that I did not have in my garage. The process was pretty easy; I wish I took more pictures. To be fair, this was a very reasonable price because I did all the work myself. I've heard of shops charging $3-4k for installs that at times could be rushed and half assed.

Default My experience straight piping my car.

Continuing the story.

So the pervious owner had upgraded the exhaust system with the "AAM Competition 370Z Resonated Short Tail Exhaust". I thought it was too quiet so I nearly straight piped the car. I say nearly because I still had the cats on. It was a 3 inch catback with a 4 inch tip made by a local muffler shop. BOY THAT **** WAS LOUD. (this was before the memes btw). Honestly, It sounded amazing under 3000 rpm and had crazy back fires that sounded like a gun shot. if I drove it at 40mph at 4000 rpm with the revmatch on, I was able to throw into neutral and wiggle the shift knob to get a crazy backfires that sounded like back to back gun shots. It sounded like a tuned car doing 2 step without it actually being tuned at all. I quickly got rid of it because how ricey it sounded in the higher rpms. Also, I respect my neighbors. I put the car back to the aam axel back and that was that.

(I'm been creating series of threads to document my experiences of the 370z platform. If you're interested, you could follow the threads I posted and/or my instagram "dudeseriousle")
