PTuning vs. AAM - Opinions Needed!
I'm planning to install a few more mods over the next two weeks and then it's time for a tune. I've pretty much decided to go with Ecutek and go for a dyno tune. My choices in this area for a master tuner are either PTuning in Manassas VA or AAM in Annapolis Junction MD. I live in MD, but work in VA, so neither is closer then the other. I'm looking for opinions on which I should go to and why. Please share your good and bad experiences at these two different shops. Your input is very much needed and appreciated.

AAM's quality has gone downhill. I had good experiences with them years ago, but recent reviews have been poor.
PTtuning is a reputable shop. I favor and recommend Moore Automotive in Fairfax. They've done all my uprev tunes along with other custom work. I don't know if they are doing Ecutek. Give 'em a call! MA Motorsports is close to your and provides a whole 'nother level of service. Check them out too. |

Hills Garage is in your area too.
Then there is always the option of SpecialtyZ doing a remote tune..

I actually decided to go with PTuning in Manassas. Hills wanted to keep my car overnight. They said I would have to drop it off on Saturday so they could do the initial tune. Then it would have to stay over night so they could do cold start tuning. This would have been a real pain, considering they are an hour away from me. The overall conversation I had with the woman on the phone left me feeling really uneasy. From what other tuners have told me, there is no reason to do cold start tuning unless the car is forced induction or has an upgraded fuel pump and injectors.
PTuning was great. My initial conversation on the phone lasted about 15 minutes. When I showed up for the tune I spoke with their tuner for at least 20 minutes. He explained everything to me and was really patient with all my questions. The car feels amazing now, so I have no complaints.

AAM has poor service in my experience, even after buying $2500+ in parts. I took it all off and sold it after they wouldn't warranty their product.
