What would you buy as a thank you gift.
So what would you guys buy as a "thank-you gift", for a 65 year old woman?
I recently met this lady at work and as I was telling her my career goals she mentioned her son is in the field I'm currently trying to get into. We couldn't have talked for more than 5 minutes and she completely vouched for me with her son, talking to him like if she's known me for years. He was immediately impressed with all the great things she said about me and has taken me under his wing to help teach me whatever he can. He was telling me that he normally doesn't do things like that but he was really impressed with the great feedback his mother had given him about me. The reason for this post is because I'm extremely grateful that this lady did that for me without knowing me at all. So I just wanted to give her a small gift as a token of my appreciation but I'm TERRIBLE with gift ideas (DE. Knows how much I suck at it haha) Any ideas? Thanks in advance you guys |

Gift certificate for a real nice restaurant, tell her its for her and her husband to have a nice evening out as a token of your great appreciation for what she has done for you. And make sure its a nice place, not lame Olive Garden or some BS. Better yet, ask her son what places she likes. That'll help make it more personal too.

i would just bring her a rose and a thank you card. nothing spectacular.
if you really feel thankful, then prove to her son with your willingness to work so that you can backup what the lady said for you. that would be the biggest thank you. GL |

I like it. Personal without being too familiar. If nothing else, it will give you time to think of something better (like a nice dinner, mentioned above). Or just ask her. Something along the lines of: "I really appreciate what you did and would like to do something nice for you. What do you enjoy that you haven't done in a while?"

Agree with the above... if you know what she likes then definitely add to that!
But the best way to show your appreciation is to work your arse off and give you 110% and move up from a jr staff. |

A nice card with a terse but not obsequious message expressing your gratitude. It's protocol for interviews that seem like they're going in your favor. Good luck in whatever you're pursuing.
