Default Wood Work

Did a search and didn't find any topics on this, so here goes! This is probably not going to be too popular here (none of my friends do anything related to 'manual labor'), but I recently discovered how awesome woodworking is (I love working with wood, especially hard wood, and in the morning; nothing beats the feel of morning wood... haha); it's been an extremely interesting hobby thus far. Today, I carved this for one of my friends who drives a G37S coupe:

Anybody here do any sort of wood work? Would love to see others' work and to learn more about their techniques and the equipment that they use.

I've thought about woodworking. We have a woodworkers guild here that has a facility less than 5 miles away from the house. You pay a yearly fee and you can attend classes and use equipment and get discounted pricing on some stuff. It'd be a great way to start a side business...I've some really cool stuff come out of there.

Very cool carving there.

You should definitely check it out; at $120/year it's definitely worth every cent. It's not necessarily just the equipment, but the classes. For equipment, you just need a dremel and a few bits and you'll be set for most basic stuff, but learning to use those bits is tricky.

The thing with wood working is that it can be tedious. Even that small piece I did for my friend took about an hour and a half, including the sketching and prep. I had to take a few breaks since my hand was cramping from holding the dremel for so long haha.

Here's a sketch-up of a relief I'm starting on today:
