Advanage Wonder Cleaner Scam
Yesterday someone came to my door to talk about Advanage Wonder Cleaner. You can supposedly clean everything with it. Your interior, tires, paint, etc.... Sketchy right? The guy showed me by cleaning his sneaker, spraying his cell phone, and even going so far as to taste it.
Normally I don't even answer the door for these people but my garage door was open so I figured I'd turn him away. He must have noticed my Z because he skipped a few houses that have average cars after leaving mine. The article below describes pretty accurately how my encounter went. He tried everything from sympathy for inner city programs where he came from to humor. Good thing I turned him away nicely as he could have been scoping the neighborhood. It's really annoying when these people catch you in your off time. The Advanage Wonder Cleaner Scam - Yahoo! Voices - voices.yahoo.com |

yep, there are whore looking chicks that come to my house to sell religion.
i never answer solicitation, but there were a few occasions when some anus from the local phone/cable company tried selling me some service plan while i too was working on my car in the garage with the garage door open. he went from complimenting my G to wheels to my Z to my detailing cart to helping me swap wheels since he was there anyway. kenchan 'hey, grab me that wrench' college kid: yes, sir kenchan 'grab me that silver dish with the lugs' college kid: yes, sir kenchan 'now go home' college kid: what? kenchan 'wat?' |

they are a pain. they always seem to want to knock on the door the same time i am cleaning my shotgun. needless to say the conversation does not last too long, usually ends with them saying, "i see you are busy, have a good day"

It was my fault for thinking it was my brother at the door (he had called to tell me he was on his way). But sketchy sales people are just another good reason to carry a pocket pistol. |

Every time a solicitor comes to the door I ALWAYS have a pistol tucked into my waist, completely visible. My girlfriend has been told to only talk through the door. I suggest everyone does this too as you want them to know your house is not to be trifled with. Saying no to their products is not enough as they may scope out valuables or a hot gf behind you as you stand in the doorway.
I get so many of these bastards in New Mexico.

I always carry a gun around the house. It tucks into my back pocket and stays hidden. An 11.5 oz .357 Mag.
I don't play to the plan where they (invaders) knock first. I saw an ADT commercial where some thug waits till dad leaves for work then smashes in the front door. With the implication of - WHAT WOULD YOU DO? I said bang. Granted a hand gun is just what you use to get to your primary weapon.

Buy & sell on the 370z forum.....low blow?
I have had some cleaner people come up to me at a gas station once. The guy did his speak and cleaned something in his hand, and then goes, "it is also a wash & wax in one for cars let me show you on your car." I almost had to tackle this guy, I stopped him and looke at him. He goes, you don't want a free trial? I stare him down and go no, I do not want some sh1t I have never seen before on my car.

Just as a tip, feel free to have them give you a business card or something, and be sure to touch it only on the edges. There are people who pose as door-to-door whatevers just to scope out the homes/owners for future theft. At least with a business card in hand, you may have a fingerprint if you or someone in the neighborhood gets targeted.
Or have them leave it on the step, if you're not opening the door. |

guys will come around once in a while to sell new windows to everyone in the neighborhood (despite the no soliciting signs everywhere). i had one of them approach me as i got out of my car (i'd never open the door for them). he wanted to set up an appointment for someone to come by and look at my windows, and, im guessing, be really aggressive in trying to sell me windows while in my living room. **** that!
big red flag when i asked the guy for a brochure, business card, website, phone number, anything, just so i could research them first, and he couldn't give me any materials. seemed like a scam, or a way to case my home before they rob it. told him to take a hike.
