Help a Brit out - Attending Nascar (or similar)
Hello all,
Following a thread I had going recently - myself and wife-to-be are honeymoon'ing in the USA. Driving San Fran -> Miami. We'd like to get to see some Nascar / stock racing / oval racing whilst over there. I've been looking at the Nascar schedule for 2018 and the nearest one to our planned trip is Daytona, but we will be arriving there late the day after the race. I think trying to rush to get there in time will leave the first part of the holiday too rushed. So, my question is - outside of Nascar, are there any other events or series that I could try and get tickets for? The wife just wants to attend a big oval race of some kind. I realise that Nascar is the big league (so to speak), but if there are any other suggestions that I can look for that may hold races along the Southern States during our trip that would be great. Thanks in advance |

Many of the bigger cities will have race tracks that are active in the Summer. Eg, Texas Motor Speedway near Fort Worth, TX.

As cool as Nascar would be, for a real slice of Americana you should look for some smaller dirt-track racing. You'll get a real dose of good ole 'Murica there.

Check out the Indy Car schedule as well. They are a lot of fun and the ticket prices are pretty good!

Thanks folks. I'll definitely be investigating these suggestions over the weekend.
There do seem to be a lot of smaller raceways and dirt tracks dotted along our route, they sounds great fun. I'm hoping to get to more 'local' things along the trip and not be a typical tourist. |
