First mod advice
hi,
Need some advice on a first mod. Before you start referring me to Search. I've read the Exhaust thread. Since I'm from South Africa, we don't have many options available here for a tried & tested system. Since my 370Z Roadster is my daily drive, I don't want anything that's going to annoy with loud droning, too much rasp and smelly fumes. I was looking at installing the Berk HFC with K&N drop-in filters first, and later the ARK Grip system. Also, is the ECU reset mandatory? what are the methods to do that? I'd appreciate feedback from anyone who's had experience with these, or anything similar. more so if the car is your daily driver. Thanks in advance |

thanks dimitarm, I won't be able to do to install aftermarket headers becos we have right-hand drive, I saw that there would be a install problem due to steering column placement. How did you tune? Did you use UpRev or something else like that, cos we don't get any of the popular Z software here.

We dont have any tuners here in Macedonia also.
What i did i bought Uprev standard and got free 3 etunes (you do some datalogging, send it to uprev and they send you back tuned map. It actually works and makes the car feel alive). Before you do tune, buy stillen gen 3, motordyne manifold and exhaust maybe. Last edited by dimitarm; 10-03-2014 at 05:48 AM. |

PM Seymore for the UpRev Cable...He is great and will work closely with you on doing E-Tunes.
As for first mods....it's all a matter of preference....All the basic bolt ons are great...For me I went for the HFC's and Exhaust from Berk. The stock Nismo exhaust was just too tame for me....You will get great power from either a CAI or a CBE/HFC combo. After three bolt ons it's highly suggested to get a tune via UpRev as you will start to run lean. I know that after I installed by Stillen G3 CAI's that I went lean a full .4 on my AFR.

I did drop-ins and tubes. Then I switched to Stillen G3, ARTs, FI catback and tune. $3K later, I'm wishing I never did them and put the money towards forced induction instead. But that's personal preference.

1st mods .... berk hfc is good choice. I felt most gains with that mod. Then some type of catback exhaust should be next, for flow and sound. (Oem nismo works good)
3rd would be intake manifold like motordyne ( I have) , im sure z1 is fine too. If u get cold air intake then get tune also to get max benefits. I wouldnt spend at least $210 on post maf tubes and kn filters.

Given the OP's location. I would say an oil cooler.

I'd plan on it costing a hell of a lot more than $7k. The Cheapest good option is the BP kit and it's $7k just for the kit before you figure in the $3-5k of supporting mods and then any labor.

True. ...but I was referring to getting started on all the basic essentials like a tuner kit:...I'm not worried about labor as my family and I wrench...I wrench as a hobby while my family members wrench professionally for a living...two of them being Master techs at Nissan....as far as supporting mods...I have most in place.....
