Initial mods New owner.
Hi, I am about to purchase a solid red base 370z, I know there are many threads about the initial mods and what not, i have seen them and read from them myself.
I am more wondering about the specifics, what companys do you recommend for exhaust/intake kits and what not. Also should i purchase a entire new exhaust system or just HFC's(Or both? idk how it works, i am a novice) Anyway what exhaust system do you guys recommend? I have seen a lot of the fast intentions.. is that the best? or is there other good systems out there. And as far as intakes go what are my good options? I am willing to spend money over time so money is not an issue, but i'm not going crazy with turbos/superchargers. This will be my daily driver. Thanks in advance PS: Are there any websites with lots of mods for the Z? I come from the mini community so you can imagine how many mods/accessories there were, wondering if its the same for the Z |

U can findsome good sponsors here ..as far as modding it depends on ur budget, how much u want to spend for each item ...u can buy JDM, USA or other country parts it all is on taste and what usound performance h want out of it

Sounds as though your planned mods are in the performance end.
Keep in mind that all the intake/exhaust mods you mention are not going to give you an exceptional power increase.I'd recommend you actually purchase the car first then determine what you want to do.As bang for the buck,HFC's are a great start. Intakes, dropping in K&N's in the stock air boxes will do just as good as a set of CAI's. I run Nismo stuff on my Z.Of course, all Nismo stuff is made by contracted companies. A lot has to do with your budget.Fast Intentions makes great parts.I just hate to wait for parts.Their timetable just does not work for me. Any appearance mods planned? Look at carbon fiber. |

Put your butt in the seat & drive it for a little bit. This site has some great deals on used components in the used parts for sale section. Getting more air in & out of the engine is the key to making power. Stillen, Z1, Zspeed are all great shops to check. I have purchased parts from all of them and they are knowledgeable, reputable and easy to deal with. In SF look up Horsepower Logic. They are Z people. They put my uprev in and use a mustang dyno for pulls.
Welcome, there's a good bunch of people on this site that will give you good guidance on your path to Zdom. |

Drive the car for a few months before you start modding. Thats my advice.
I have only a few hundred dollars into mine for mods ($380ish) and I am very happy with the performance of this car.

I think you start off with a simple air intake. A couple hundred bucks and you'll notice the difference.
Look at the used parts section on here. There are a lot of good members selling GREAT parts

I started with a stillen exhaust and the stilled gen3 intake... that's all my budget allows for right now lol. Just depends on your taste for exhaust and how loud you like it. There is a thread with different exhausts and how they sound. Also, again it depends on how much you want to spend.

Thanks for all the input guys, i appreciate it
I will probably take your advice and drive it for a bit and initially mod the exterior with tint/blackout and then work on performance as time progresses |
