Y-pipe?
Hey guys I'm looking at AAM's Y-pipe and I'm curious about the reviews.
I've looked at the comparison pictures between this aftermarket y-pipe and the factory unit... And I just don't see the difference...?? I've read the stock Y-pipe is highly restrictive or that it is the biggest restriction along with the factory cats. Let me know on this. $300ish for 7-8hp is fine by me, would like others input though and experiences.

I should mention I have the AAM short tails. I won't be going with a full CBE. I'm happy with the short tails, just looking for a few extra hp

I would say if you have the money you can get that but there are cheaper alternatives. You can even go as far as looking for ones off of eBay. TopSpeed makes a y-pipe for around $200. All y-pipes are relatively the same unless you are looking at titanium and or one with a resonator on it.

If you already have the AAM Short tails, then the Y-Pipe is sure bet for you. As far as getting a real exhaust, I am assuming that the person was implying a Cat-Back. If you are good with the sound, I say go for it!

Anyway I'll be looking more into the Y-pipe or even their Mid-Pipe set up. I personally do not like the look or sound of alot of the cat back exhausts out there. My two top picks are meisterschaft and Berk... and at the price I'm not sure I want to go that route. AAM Mid pipe and AAM Axle back might be the route I go. Y-pipe seems like the best bang for the buck though ...

If you already have the Short Tails, I would go for the AAM Mid section as well. I have the F.I. 3", but would have an AAM R-Line if it was available when I was looking. Funny thing is that I rate 2 shop produced setups over the big companies. In this order:
F.I. AAM HKS Greddy (you suck for discontinuing the Turbo TiC) To me, the competition is far overrated (and overpriced)

I had the AAM short tails combo with the AAM-S Line mid pipes.
Performance was there and really noticeable. But after a good 6-7 weeks i swapped out the short tails. At some points the exhaust note can sound pretty cool but at WOT its a whole different story. Kinda got annoying lol. Plus with this combo it wasn't a perfect fit. I don't know how loud it would be since you have HFC added. If you're looking to not spend a lot but want some bit of gains with the short tails. I would suggest the Nismo exhaust (just the mid and y pipe). Probably cost $150-300 which should fit your budget

I mean its not as impressive as others might say, but its for sure within your budget for some hp/tq gains.
