Default exhaust gasket sealer

I'm getting ready to install my Beluga exhaust this weekend. Having never done a bolt on exhaust, I'm researching the process. Some people are using a Cooper gasket sealer on the both sides of the gasket to help prevent potential leaks. Anyway, any recommendations and to what temps should I be looking at?

I've only seen one type of the copper gasket spray.

I used this on all the flanges when I did my exhaust install. So far so good. Gasket Makers : Permatex® Ultra Copper® Maximum Temperature RTV Silicone Gasket Maker

I've always used this for flat metal gaskets. Donut gaskets get red RTV.

Either of the copper permatex products is fine for exhaust usage...

But I would never personally put that stuff on my cat-back gaskets. You'd have to clean and re-apply every time you drop the exhaust for any reason... I guess if you knew you wouldn't be removing the exhaust for years, it'd be a good touch though.

I have it on my header gaskets, works great. The stuff is able to survive much higher temps than they give themselves credit for.

I use it every time. I wipe the old stuff off with a sos pads and one of those degreaser wipes for body work and then spray it down again. Wait one beer for it to get tacky, and bolt it together again. RTV is much more of a bitch to get off once it's baked on.

Ok. Great feedback! Thanks all. Since I don't plan to drop this system any time soon, I'll be adding it during the install. I plan to put the car up on stands Friday night and PB blast all the stock bolts and WD40 the hangers. Any other advice you can think of?

You'll need at least a 12 pack.

That would just be evil. Might as well weld it together at that point.
