Anyone know what impact, if any, to the warranty on a 370Z if you put, say, a Fast Intentions exhaust on it? And maybe an intake?

The only impact is IF that aftermarket part causes an issue to another part? Then that part wont be covered. The warranty will still be valid for the rest of the car unrelated to the aftermarket part.

Anyone had to deal with this? What does the dealer or Nissan believe can be related to the exhaust or intake? I mean the car's computer can handle new intake/exhaust without issue right? So does that mean anything but the actual exhaust and intake components that are replaced is covered without issue?
(cut to the chase) How many people have modified exhaust and/or intake while under warranty and then needed service for a warranteed repair? Any issues? |

An exhaust or intake usually won't void your warranty except for directly related parts. Even if you have some engine or transmission problems, just put stock back on.
They can easily say that the intake/exhaust messed with the ECU, engine, or transmission by increasing power or changing fuel ratios which those may not have been designed for. Realistically, this usually won't be what messes a part up. Best to ask your dealer. Mine had no issues with intake and exhaust.

We have 100's of Nissan dealerships across the country that trust and install STILLEN products, a lot of times onto vehicle before they are sold.
If you're worried about it, have the dealer do the installation. That being said, you're backed by the Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act, which specifies that an auto manufacturer cannot force you to use exclusively their own parts and void your warranty. We did a write-up of some additional information, this was also validated by the FTC in 2011: Federal Trade Commission Validates Right to Install Aftermarket Parts Without Voiding Warranty : STILLEN If the aftermarket part in question fails, obviously the warranty will not apply to that part, but not the whole warranty. You're not alone in this, there are thousands of Z's that are modified, and routinely go in for services at the dealership. |
