I have already used wd40 and pb blaster to dissolve and lubricate the rust, but it would not budge. How did you guys take the stock exhaust off? Thanks

blow torch to red hot, spray some water on them and voila, they'll be more loose than a $2 hooker in TJ

I gave up after 10 minutes and used a sawzall and just cut the nut right off.

i drove mine, got it warm, got a beefy breaker bar and broke them both off. less than 10 minutes, done. when they go, they go with a BANG. so be careful you don't throw your breakerbar into something / smash a headlight.

I have read somewhere that people have had best results with a product called Kroil, same principle as wd40, but apparently much better. Google it up. GL

Spray it nice and good with WD40 and leave it for a while if you have time maybe even over night let it soak in nice and good and they should come right off.

I started to round the bolt on passengers side midpipe to Y connection, so i said F* it as well and sawzalled it too. With as much torque as it takes to get those bastards loose, 1 bad turn is all it takes and you are screwed. There is a black plate just before the Y pipe i think if you can get those 4 bolts out, and pull everything off the hangers, you could just let it drop.(once off cats)
I didn't have a metric impact socket, lesson learned. 5 hour exhaust removal, 20 min install ha. Last edited by antisocial83; 05-17-2013 at 01:25 AM. |
