Custom 2.5" straight pipe
I have been wanting to do some performance mods to my car and I found local shop this past week that would build me a mandrel bent 2.5" catback dual exhaust for $400. I had them go ahead and reuse the stock tips for now until i can buy a nicer pair. First, all i can say is wow! It screams without the muffler and resonators. Everywhere i go people stop and watch as i drive by. Im really happy with the work that they did and how it sounds. Definite

My buddy who works on ratrods and muscle cars and has offered to build one for me just like that. Same x-pipe design too. I have seen a 350z he did and that thing screams. Anyway you can do a power pull or 2 on a dyno to see if there is any gains?

Pure straight pipe with no bends at all relieves back pressure but not enough back pressure hurts performance. Unless FI, straight pipe would actually more then likely hurt more then it helps.

I will as soon as i find out how to put one on here, and as well as adding hp it also sounds better. Around 2k-3k rpms the drone in the cab is a little loud but as soon as you lay into the throttle it sounds like an f1 car!

So, because you heard a 3" single pipe is for 'track cars' but the 2.5" (duals) netted more gains, you went with that? A 2.5" dual exhaust is a total of 9.8 square inches of exhaust area. A 3" single is 7.07 square inches. The 3" single can flow to 350-375hp N/A depending on Y pipe and header design. The 2.5" dual has 38% more area (flow potential) than the single 3". Meaning a single 3" is much more practical for your power level than dual 2.5's would ever be. It's all meaningless with the stock headers and cats, so this is really just academic anyway. |

Great price for a full CBE, what material was used? Stainless steel or mild steel? And what gauge?

Everyone can appreciate academic information, especially a college student The next upgrade ill be working on will be the intakes and then ill be moving to testpipes and headers. Yeah its nice to have a master fabricator in town thats inexpensive and when the time comes for some mufflers/testpipes/headers he can install them as well and Im pretty sure its carbon steel and idk what gauge they use.

So whats the skinny on some dyno time? The new s-line mid pipe section from AAM just dropped and it runs a "H" pipe vs your "X". I am needing some dyno charts from you to determine which route I am going to go.

Looks good! In for some sound clips and numbers. If you are not sure how to post vids on here just upload it to youtube and and post the link, or you could always make a photobucket account and do it that way too. I think they have an app for andriod and iphone so you can upload pics and vids directly from your phone
