Default Dumb exhaust question (resonators)

I read a small article that tells me they are basically like a glass pack, without anything in them.

What effect do they have on sound and performance - why would one want them, or, how does a longer one benefit over a shorter one?

(this question based on the fast intentions exhaust options)

As far as I know, there is no performance benefit of having them. They are essentially open canisters that cancel exhaust resonation (drone).

A longer resonator will be able to cancel more resonance as opposed to a shorter one. I would suggest a larger resonator when you start to really uncork the exhaust as it tends to drone more.

im bringing this topic back up. I'm looking to get my exhaust a little louder--more ballz to the wall. someone mentioned adding resonators...what do you guys think. I already have a full CBE.

Suggestions appreciated on the topic since Im not an expert on resonators.

Umm adding resonators won't make it louder. If you want to make it louder, you would want to remove resonators, but then you have to deal with exhaust drone noise (personal preference).

No Resonator would be louder.

I see that you have the Meisterschaft cat back and HFC's and you want louder??? Wow. Thats got to be loud already...You could gut your cats or go to test pipes or headers if you want this so called "Big Chubby Balls up against the walls" sound. .......
