Hi I just got some CNT downpipes and a y-pipe. Could someone tell me the torque specs for the various bolts and nuts? Also any tips for preventing exhaust leaks?

torque specs for exhaust bolts?
Hi I just got some CNT downpipes and a y-pipe. Could someone tell me the torque specs for the various bolts and nuts? Also any tips for preventing exhaust leaks?
I installed a y-pipe with new gaskets but put on a thin layer of high temp gasket maker. Now I have an exhaust leak that you can only really hear on a cold start and goes away after a min. I got some new gaskets for the downpipe but is it ok to re-use old gaskets (1 month old) for the y-pipe? or should I go to the dealership and buy some new ones? |

just tighten them as hard as u can with a hand wrench. shouldnt have any issues with leaks as long as u can muscle up on a wrench.
forgive me if that sounded redneck, but i wouldnt worry too much about torque specs on an exhaust. gaskets will by fine to reuse if only a month old

EM-38 fo the FSM states that 22ft lbs is the torque spec (to tighten a nut and fasten an exhaust manifold to the rods fastened to the crank case).
------------------------------ EM 39 states that the tightening sequence is as follows: ( the sequence as i post it is relative to the picture) Drivers side <--- Front of car 3286 514 (you will go back and tighten "1" as the 7th step) Passenger side Front of car ---> 6283 415 (you will go back and tighten "1" as the 7th step) ------ The bolt rods appear to be in the same order. Torque specs for them on EM 38 11 ft lbs
