R2C intake discussion ...
Ok guys, so i've been debating for quite a while about which intakes to go with. Obviously most use the G3's which have the biggest power gain that is shown so far.
The problem here is that the R2C's have never been dyno'd. For those who are running the this set-up, did you feel a power difference? For those who are into the mechanical details the G37's run these and the power gain with them vs. the G3's are basically the exact same. The G37 has a more open front end from what I remember seeing anyway... so it would make sense that the higher air flow causes more of a power gain. How many would think that if these gains are proven on the 37's that on the Z's it would produce similar gains? Does anyone know if the other intake systems produce similar gains on the G37 vs. the Z? I may get these and get a before and after dyno to put this to rest, but it's expensive if it doesn't end up being much of a power gain. |

It will be less expensive than the Top Speed intakes.
I too looked at these and over them. (Especially in the gloss black coating ) but couldn't justify replacing the stock air box with another air box. However I don't think the loss of power vs the Gen III's will be that tremendous. However I will let you know there are 3 companies that are making intakes for the Z that should be rolling out very soon, if you can hold on just a little longer.

on an N/A motor the amount of air near the intake isn't really a huge factor (unless there is just simply no air). Ram air setups and similar stuff make little to no difference, so there is probably minimal difference in here either.
The big difference, if any, probably comes from the air being somewhat cooler where the G3 filters are verses right inside the engine bay like the R2C. Anyway, its still 500$ for these short ram intakes....how is it that people dont see how extemely overpriced parts are for these cars? Its a cheap metal pipe with a MAF mount welded on. Woopty do! |
