WWW.LS1TECH.COM-HOW TO ELIMIATE RASP

I have been researching this for almost a year now, on and off. I just recently put LTH's on my Tacoma and got the rasp. So I started some more research.

I stumbled upon this post on a different forum here and am very convinced this will work!!

Classic Chambered Exhaust Inc. - Home Page

With the grain

Against the grain - This would be the proper way to install - contrary to the manufacture

It is called the Powerstick and from what I have been reading you need to be installed backwards with cases of heavy rasp.

Classic Chambered Exhaust...PowerStick

UPDATE 5/31/2011:

I have ordered one 25" Powerstick for my 2005 Tacoma, I will post some before and after videos of the sound. I am not sure I am ready to do this to the Z yet as I did put my cats back on and the car sounds wonderful with Stillen CBE.

Wouldn't this create a restriction in flow, and thus power?

I guess that depends on the internal diameter. If it stays constant with the rest of the piping, it should eliminate certain sounds and flow about the same as the rest of the system.

In for updates..........

Why would you want the gasses flowing against the grain?

Well this would be after you have removed your cats....so it would be to either take the hit on power or sound. I would take some minimal losses to get rid of the that crappy rasp.

This data is for the exhaust going with the grain on a engine producing more torque than our cars ever will, I am pretty sure you are going to see very little added loss with either direction.

I just got my muffler in and installed on my Toyota Tacoma last week, the sound is freakin sweet. I had removed my cats, installed long tube headers and TRD Cat back. It sounded like **** to say the least. With the powerstick installed right where the piping merges to the muffler, I lost all the rasp and gargling, the exhaust is very conditioned.

I don't plan on doing this anytime soon on the Nismo, but if anyone is out there needing some sort of light....check it out.
