Default Can someone help a noob pick headers

So the last bolt on I want to install would be some new headers, and possibly with some test pipes or HFC's if I go short tubes. But trying to figure out which ones people like, or if they are even worth doing at all, is a little daunting.

So far I have the Z1 CAI and Invidia Gemini CBE installed, and I am really enjoying the car. The headers were the last thing I wanted to add on before I get a tune. My main goal is performance, but without becoming super loud (hence the Gemini)

I've heard that long tube headers are the move if performance is the main goal, but then I begin to worry about the sound. The Z1 400hp package has also caught my eye, but those come with short tube headers and either test pipes or their HFCs. If you were in my position, and wanted the best performance possible, but as little noise gain as possible, what would you do?

Would love to hear any recommendations or suggestions. Bonus points if you know a good shop in the Portland OR/Vancouver WA area to take my Z for installation.

If you want to run test pipes or HFC's. Z1 shorties. Performance pick FI or PPE LTH's. One poster had problems with fit on his PPE lth's. Never of any problems with FI. The right side will take about an hour or so to change. The left side, figure on about 5 to 6 hrs.
old guy and Zingston like this.

Yea I've seem some mixed things about the PPE lth, so I'm definitely leaning towards the FI's. You think those are going to generate a good amount of noise?

You’re getting rid of the cat which acts as a muffler, so the exhaust with headers is going to be significantly louder and have some rasp.

You can install whatever header you want and modify your exhaust with additional resonators to up the deep tone and reduce any rasp. Several have done that on the forum.

Turbocharger does a great job of muffling exhaust noise
