HFC's vs test pipes
Which one is better for a deeper tone? I talked to Fast Intentions yesterday and he said test pipes are louder but I don't want a nasty/raspy loud sound. I didn't ask him many questions about the difference but I thought I'd ask yall. What's yalls opinion? I like a deep tone but the setup he told me sounds pretty good. 12" res, HFC non res, 10"sport mufflers. I'm also adding the dual CAi ( All Fast Intentions) Opinions? My previous setup had carbon fiber mufflers..that's the only difference I think. Help

Resonated is probably gonna be deeper tone & test-pipes will have better performance than HFC’s.
Should be a lotta videos out there, unsure the difference in muffler tones, from the 10-14” vs CF ones My first exhaust had resonated TP’s & 18” resonated tdx with the polished mufflers & really sounded great. Could cruise without excessive noise or rasp, but when you dialed it up....had a beautiful exotic sound Others will comment on this about their experiences

I've had Berk HFC's for a little over a year now with OEM CBE and I love the sound. Just a little louder than factory with an exotic purpose built exhaust note. I also have G3 intakes and a tune but I'm not sure if that makes a difference in sound.
Like others have said, if you want a deep note, stay away from TP's. In my opinion the extra hp or 2 from TP's vs HFC's isn't worth the rasp. |

My setup consists of FI resonated HFC's and 18" resonated exhaust... the sound is PURRRRfect. Roars like a lion when I hammer the throttle, purrs like a big cat in regular driving, and quiet when I want it to be. BTW, I think you should hear Tony @ FI's recommendations. Back in 2012 when I purchased my system, I described what I want to hear, and he recommended a setup, and he was Spot-On!
Here's what I wrote about the sound of my FI system back then: Fast Intentions exhaust is here!

HFCs really cleaned up the overall tone of my Motordyne. I had test pipes and they were fine, but I got sick of smelling like the car every time I drove it. Combine that with E85, I'm probably burning cleaner than most cars on the street now.
I'm a fan of them, but i will say that it will take more effort when tuning because each cat has slight differences causing some AFR variances in the different cylinder banks. Anyone who is competent and professional should be able to handle it. If you aren't concerned with overall peak power output, then I highly recommend HFCs. |

Tons of youtube video's with both. Test pipes even with resonators produce a tinny higher pitched sound. Then there's the issue (for me) of your clothes smelling like rotten eggs without cats as well.

HFC best for tone
HFC will give you the best sound and tone. Test pipes will give you maybe 2-3 more hp but it will sound bad, smell gas, and there will be more drone.
I would go with HFC. I actually have Fast Intentions HFC and they are top of the line quality. |
