Test pipes will give you marginally better gains and will help the tuner with consistency. Also they'll be louder, but that's heavily dependent on the cat-back you have installed on it.
High flow cats give you slightly less gains, but you won't end up smelling like your car every time you drive it. They provide more sound to the car as well, and are still a significant improvement over the stock cats. if you use the "the370z" ahead of any term in your favorite search engine, it will pull up relevant threads in the forum and make it easier to find stuff. |

It doesn’t sound like a good idea comparing the Z1 headers with test pipes as it will be very loud and raspy unless that is what you like? I would hear the Z1 headers, test pipes, and Nismo exhaust in person on someone’s Z or a exhaust clips before considering this exhaust. If you are going to invest that much on labor and exhaust I personally would consider installing longtube headers on your Z instead if you are going this route.

Keep the Z1 headers
I would simply get high flow cats that fit these headers. It's not worth the trouble and money to trade or sell. Your car will sound good and it will have great performance.

what's your exhaust? there's a guy in atlanta that has z1 header with tomei test pipes and motordyne exhaust and it sounds good.
I'll be installing z1 headers on my motor also. I'm pairing them with motordyne art pipes.

Good luck with them making an exchange or refund in a timely manner. They are quick to sell you something but when it comes time for customer service they fall short. You are better off just keeping them and finding a nice exhaust to pair them with you like.

you are better off keeping the z1 headers and adding resonated test pipes or art pipes. if sound is your concern. maybe message SS_Firehawk if you have more questions. He has had PPE headers and Z1 headers.

If you’re worried about loudness/raspiness, I would recommend ART pipes. Paired with your stock nismo exhaust, it should be a good volume. On my 350z, I have tomei headers (similar to z1), art pipes, and nvidia gemini (also a quiet exhaust) and it is the perfect volume in my opinion. Wont wake up the neighbors but still opens up. Motordyne or tomei on the otherhand.. nah
