Default F.I. Carbon Fiber Damaged

I'm looking for some guidance on what my options are. Does this damage look like it could be repaired? There is a gas leak that you can see in the attached gif. The previous owner ran it this way and said it worked fine but I can't help but feel that a gas leak would affect something. I'm tempted to try some exhaust sealant/putty in between the carbon and stainless as a last resort. Please let me know if you've dealt with this issue before and what my options are. Thanks!

Reach out to Fast Intentions and see what they have to say about it. I had a significant amount of damage and a small exhaust leak on my previous FI CF exhaust after I ran over a chunk of concrete. FI said there wasn't much that could be done to repair it. Ran the car like that for over 6 months with zero issues while I waited for an insurance check and a new exhaust to be fabricated.

Thanks for the response JARblue, maybe I will throw it on and see what happens. It's a good excuse to order some of their newer 10" sport mufflers if it doesn't work out.

Ouch! That gives me more hope that mine will work in the interim, haha.

Hey Cyber,

Sorry to see the situation with your muffler. Looks like the previous owner may have had a very low car and scraped it a few too many times on the ground / speed bumps.

There really isn't much that you can do to repair the carbon canister once the material is ground down like that. A side of being annoying, an exhaust leak can rob performance.

If you're interested, we can certainly build you a replacement muffler section with either our 14" Touring, 10" Sport, or 14" Carbon mufflers.

Either way, give us a call to discuss options and pricing for the replacements.

Thanks for reaching out Kevin, I will probably contact you in the near future about a replacement.
