Default Should I upgrade test pipes

Hello everybody, I got myself a used Nismo and while doing an oil change I noticed it appears to have what looks like test pipes. I couldn't see any brand name on them so I'm assuming they are some generic pipes you can get off of eBay.

Would you recommend I upgrade them to ART pipes or just let them be. The car is not loud at all because it still has the stock exhaust.

Which test pipes all comes down to preference on price and sound.

There are plenty of owners out there that swear by the cheapest priced parts (ISR, Amazon/EBay, etc.) and there are others that choose to use known brands who's R&D built the modifications for the platform (Fast Intentions, Berk, Stillen, Motordyne, etc.).

Once the exhaust is changed, the sound will increase significantly.

If it's a DD, changing pipes would be a waste, IMNSHO. You might gain a HP or two by getting the best pipes vs what you have now. If you plan on racing, it might be worthwhile. Getting a tune will give you more bang for your buck.

I'll stick with the stock exhaust it has but I did notice it does have some growl when you step on it but it does sound somewhat airy, I'm assuming it is because of the test pipes allowing more air flow. I can hear the air whooshing out the back but I guess we can say that is normal, right?

Don't bother messing with the test pipes unless you plan to switch out the stock exhaust. And there's probably no point in changing out the test pipes unless you want to swap for HFCs. You can, of course, always switch over to the ART pipes or something else. But that would just be spending money for a slight change in exhaust tone.

Would it be worth it getting the ART primarily for the quality?

If you were buying new pipes, yes. But test pipes are about as simple as they come. No moving parts to wear out, nothing to adjust. Only thing that can go wrong is rust. Replace them if you upgrade the exhaust but I'd leave 'em alone for now if it were my car.
