Fast Intentions Test Pipe
Good day all,
I want to share my personal experience with FI test pipe. I have purchased the test pipe in July 2016 and it was okay until last week. I started to hear metal to metal sound and when I lifted the car, I found that the welding failed between the flange and the pipe. https://photos.app.goo.gl/Jv1NYH1ejzAXFA6C7 This is really unexpected from a big company such FI. I sent them an email and I am waiting for their response. |

Sorry to hear of your unfortunate luck with FI products this issue could be from poor quality control if the actual welds failed and take into consideration your climate conditions and driving conditions can play a role in how long welds can last. I have seen road salt and rust ruin welds on test pipes before. Try the AAM Competition 2.5” test pipes I used them with no issues and so have many other Z enthusiasts.

Fast Intentions have a good rep and will most likely take care of you.
If by some chance you end up following Quicksilver's advice about the AAM test pipes, make sure they are actually in stock first. Do not trust their ETA on production.

Have you contacted FI about it. That would be the first thing to do before starting a thread. There is not a faster way to piss a vendor off by starting a thread bashing them before giving them the chance to make it right.

FI has top notch customer service and honestly failed welds is a very rare occurrence from all the people i've spoken to over the years.
i personally had one of those rare occurrences only a year into having mine. muffler hanger weld popped. i attributed it to lovely Pittsburgh roads not poor welding. they took care of me, put over 70k miles since then and i have never had any other issue.

Seeing the numerous Z owners that actually have the Nismo exhaust overall it is universal as far as fitment go’s to most all aftermarket exhaust vendors and I highly doubt it contributed to a weld failure. The best of luck to you in your situation some vendors stand behind their products and some don’t. If you decide to purchase the AAM Competition 2.5” test pipes directly the last time I ordered from them they informed me they had all their exhaust products in stock and were ready to ship out. AAM Competition makes batches of their exhaust products and when they run out they have to produce more just like any other vendor and my experience with AAM was always a good one.

You just can't stop blowing those guys, huh? These days they make crap. Post less and read more. Maybe one day your advice will be worth reading.
