w transmission brace contact motordyne shockwave 370z
Hey guys,
I recently bought a 370z (2014) with 49,000 km here in Korea, and purchased a motordyne shockwave exhaust and boy does it sound AMAZING but there are a couple problems: the tips dont center perfectly, which probably can be fixed by readjusting the pipes, and the w transmission brace (picture below), needed to be taken out because it was rusted and bent from the previous owner. I am trying to purchase a new w transmission brace but was wondering whether the brace would contact this new exhaust, as if it does, it would probably make a metal sound with every imperfection of the road. I would kindly appreciate any feedback or solutions the NA 370z community has, as there are no 370z owner with the motordyne shockwave here in Korea that I know of. |

It shouldnt hit the brace when lined up correctly. You may have to play with the hangers to get tips lined up straight.
What I did on mine for fine adjustment is loosen the bolts up on the exhaust slightly so you can get some movement and retighten in new position. A tweek downstream also can make a big difference at the tips |

I had to literally cut the brace as I was installing, causing a small hole on the undercarriage where one bolt is supposed to go, because it was rusted and bent so badly. Do you think one bolt would matter and should I make the purchase for a new brace? Ive had enough of the exhaust scraping every time there is a slight bump in the road, just breaks my heart. One bolt on the W brace shouldnt matter.
As for contact: I installed a SoulFunction rear brace that touched the right pipe. Bought aluminized adhesive fiberglass matting and wrapped a portion around the part of the brace that contacted the pipe. No rattling noises. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk |

I second loosening the exhaust, using a jack to raise it and tightening again.
I actually have to do the same after it adjusted post ART pipe install.

that's what I did in the beginning, but the tips still didn't line up, the right one was perfect but I guess the left straight pipe was off, causing the left side whole end to shift left

Once aligned though, I have adjusted the contact on the W brace myself. I suggest loosening all v band connections (do not remove), lift with a jack and tighten.

Motordyne fitment is horrible. Had the same problems with mine and just used heat wrap around the brace so it would quit the rubbing. Would never buy anything Motordyne again. Very poor fitment on the ART pipes as well
