Invidia Gemini or HKS Hi Power
I just purchased a 2013 Base 370Z. Car is awesome. Best car I've owned for sure.
I was looking to get and exhaust and these seem to be the two I've narrowed it down to. I like the price and they both seem to be decent for a DD. No drone and I don't think I'd be worried about cops all the time. I also don't want to be underwhelmed by the sound as well. Would HKS be louder or Invidia? I've been reading everything about all of the exhaust on this forum and google. I also looked at FI and Motordyne but FI I don't care for the look and Motordyne is pricey and is probably too loud for a DD even though I really want this exhaust. I know I'd always be worried about cops driving around with a Motordyne Shockwave exhaust. I would save a few hundred bucks getting the Invidia but is the HKS worth it for $1100 compared to $880 or so for the Invidia? I am worried the HKS would be too quiet but could be perfect. I've never heard either system. I will most likely be taking it somewhere to be installed instead of doing it myself. I'm a little worried about loss of low end torque or just any losses in general after replacing the stock exhaust but any help is appreciated! Last edited by MattYC; 04-10-2019 at 04:53 PM. |

I love my HKS. It's quiet when it needs to be (normal driving around town and cruising at highway speeds), and loud enough when you want it to be.

I love my gemini. For a DD it's perfect. Nice mellow tone with rasp. Above 4k RPM she sings a nice tune..At idle it hasa quiet grumble but still can hear it. I think it's the best bang for the buck as far as cbe's go. Plus I got mine for less than 800 new.
As for the loss of low end torque, you'll want a tune. You'll need a tune anyway to get all the potential power from any breathing mod. After my tune, the additional low end torque caught me off guard in a very good way.

Personally all exhausts are quiet except single exits, until you pair them with test pipes. I would recommend doing it yourself if you have the tools. It's probably the easiest thing you can do to the car. Lastly, I wouldn't tune unless you either do tp/hfc or an intake as an exhaust generally doesn't provide enough benefit for $600+ tune. Generally an aftermarket exhaust provides more airflow over stock anyways, so you should see a benefit afterwards.

Thanks guys for the replies. Seems like the exhuast are pretty similar from what I'm seeing.
HKS maybe a little better quality. I'm actually really considering the Motordyne now. Is it extremely louder when normally driving than the Invidia or HKS? I just don't know how loud all of these exhaust actually will be in person. I wouldn't be getting on the gas all the time but I also don't want to be worried about cops or annoying neighbors. The motordyne just sounds so good in the videos so it's hard to drop that option and it looks good as well. |

Stop lying to yourself, if anything an exhaust tempts you more.
Anyways, Motordyne is the best sounding imo but you're paying for it, Fast Intentions is not far behind and you can find them used for a good price. It's ultimately your car, go to meets and listen to other peoples cars.

I tried to find a meet in my city but there didn't seem to be any. I might have to drive a ways to get to one.
and haha you are right it will tempt me more probably but i've never had an exhaust on any car before so not sure how it will effect me. The cold start on my stock exhuast seemed a little loud standing behind the car this morning so I'm assuming the Motordyne or even FI would be many times louder. |

if a single exit exhaust makes similar or slightly more power, and is lighter and cheaper, i guess a single exit is the logical choice.
looks funny in the oem bumper tho. does anyone make a single exit bumper for these cars? |

I am currently running Motordyne Shockwave exhaust on stock cats. I agree that it is the best sounding exhaust.
Tone is great and deep on cold starts. Once at temp, the car gives off a low rumble till about 4000/4500 rpms, and then (as the advert states) the shockwave sound is let loose. As far as comparison of dBs, I do not know which of the three listed is loudest, but will agree that single exit will be #1. Sound will significantly increase once paired to test pipes (non-res will be the loudest). |

Not a Honda-style sound which can be buzzy and annoying, IMO. I have only received compliments on the sound. Last edited by ZontheRocks; 04-12-2019 at 05:13 PM. |
