Aftermarket Exhaust - Impact on Fuel Economy?
Since my 370z is my daily, I try to keep my fuel economy reasonable I drive about 150km daily mix of highway and city (~93 miles for US folk).
I'm looking into getting an exhaust system but I'm just wondering if people have noticed much of an impact on their fuel economy? Some people have mentioned doing an intake, or intake+exhaust setup has decreased their fuel economy by a bit. I'm not looking for intense HP gains or anything. Just trying to get something a bit more audibly pleasing than stock. Any input? Thanks! |

The same people that care about MPG are the ones that care about paying for premium. You knew this going into the car. It's expensive but it's about the enjoyment not the price.
And an exhaust will make you even more likely to not care about MPG because then that negates the racecar. Last edited by ColtronZ; 10-05-2018 at 11:08 AM. |

My MPG went up after exhaust/HFC/CAI plus ecutek tune. If I stick the cruise control on 65 and drive for a few hours the dash computer tells me I get about 29-30 mpg. Before the breather mods and tune, the best I could do was about 27 mpg on a cross country trip.
That said, you will be flooring it to hear and enjoy your car. You'll also be downshifting more often to stay out of the 2000 rpm range, unless you enjoy rattling the entire car with a loud drone.

IF your driving habits remain the same, you should see a slight increase in MPG. But I'm in agreement with everyone else that your driving habits will change and MPG will drop a bit.

Haha thanks for the input everyone. It's not really "paying for fuel" thats the issue, its me being lazy to go fill up more frequently and I like having good range per tank. Thankfully our Zs actually have pretty big fuel tanks.
Glad to know the exhaust doesn't directly impact it too much, just my driving habits might change to hear the sweet V6 |
