Default New Nismo R-Tune intake?

Hi all, I've only had my Z for a few months so apologies if this is old news.

I've been looking around for intakes, and noticed this recently. Is it new or old? I know the Nismo R-Tune long tube intake was discontinued and only a few places seem to have this one.

Don't think this is new as I am pretty sure there are full fledged chinese knockoffs of it around for like $80 or something.

That being said.. it doesn't look terribly effective compared to the Stillen G3 or Z1 intakes.

*edit* misread your post as saying it was a knock-off

Better off getting stillen gen3 or Z1 long tube vs this shorty. Besides the upgraded filter, really no benefit of this over OEM.

Huh. It is an OEM part. Weird I hadn't seen it before.

If you want shortys you might consider AEMs new option. I installed mine a couple of weeks ago and really like the look, sound, and gains. They utilize the stock air routing and heat shields to prevent heat soak.

Also at $380 not a bad price.

I think K&N Drop-ins would give you 90% of the performance benefit of shorties at a tiny fraction of the price. Just my opinion, im sure there are dynos out there to figure it out. Those AEM shorties do look pretty sweet though.

I agree. However, when I did the math of 2 K&N filter and new post-MAF tubes it was around $210. I felt for the extra coin for the AEMs look and design was worth it to me.

Thanks, I was planning on getting that one. I plan on staying rather stock after having a few "ermagerd RACECAR"s haha. I just think the Z should have a better intake sound than factory. I liked the design of the AEM which is why the Nismo caught my eye. But that price!

I'm the weirdo that likes quiet exhausts too. Fight me.

I thought about getting the r-tune just to compliment the Nismo but the price is steep. The AEM does look really nice and functional. I have two HKS hybrid green filters and that alone made a difference. In fact, took them out for my first oil change and noticed a difference in performance but more importantly the intake sound dropped massively in comparison to factory filters. Ref 2017 Nismo auto
