Default Exhaust cutouts and deep thoughts

Has anybody tried this?? I'm asking because I'm trying to figure out if what I want to do is possible. I sold my Z and got a Q50S with the same engine and I have some parts leftover from my Z that'll work on my new car (M370 intake manifold, UDP's and test pipes). If I add intakes and a tune?, will the tune only work properly with the exhaust cut outs open, or would it run correctly even with them closed? I know I'd be leaving some hp on the table but its a family car sometimes.

I've never seen any kind of exhaust valve work for any real length of time. The exhaust always gums it up. There's a reason these aren't everywhere, and everyone that actually runs exhaust cut-outs ends up with the ones you have to un-bolt.

If you don't want something quite a bit louder just get one of the quieter exhaust systems.

If you decide to do this, you can always get a tune with different maps; one for closed and another for open. Sounds like an interesting proposition...

These can work just fine when a quality one is used.

The most reliable one would be something that closes the valve on vacuum, and opens it when there's almost no vacuum so its automated.

Can't comment about Uprev, but I have EcuTek and I know that they can do multiple maps...

I looked into this a few years ago and didn't find anything that worked for me. For the electric ones finding a space where it would have enough clearance was an issue. Next issue was electric ones seem to fail, high temps and bad environment kill the motor quickly on anything but a trailer queen. Cable operated ones seem to always leak. Manual ones seem to be the only option, small and nothing to break or leak but they you have to jack up the car to get to them.

I'm having to have a custom exhaust midsection built for my boosted set up.. My mechanic said he found enough room to squeeze an exhaust cut out , should be done in a few days. I went with the quick time performance E-cut out DIY kit. I have a friend that has been runnings the same unit on his GTR for over 2 years with no problems. Going to put it on the dyno and add a tune for the gate being open. This will be the 4th tune stored in the UpRev flash.
