Replace AAM TT down pipes with cats possible?
Does anyone know if I can put back the OEM Cats or any aftermarket cats back in after I have the AAM TT kit installed on my car.
I need it just for emission testing purpose and I can take it off after the tests and put the AAM TT 3" down pipes back in. Anyone know if this would be possible? The laws in my state here in Australia say we are aloud to change cats aslong as it passes emissions testing and the new cats are in the same location as the OEM ones. I think I will need to do something like this as the AAM kit replaces the OEM cats with down pipes and I am sure DPTI down here won't be happy with that. I have also ordered a FI TT 3" TDX CBE. |

Admittedly I'm not from Australia, but I'd think as long as you have cats you're good. Why not just order the FI exhaust with cats in it? Are the inspections stations really going to know the exact location of the factory cats or know that your cats are now 12" further back?

Yeah I was thinking of getting the milspec cats option added in from FI. But then I don't know if the inspection station is going to figure out that the cats are in a new location.
Thats why I am wondering if I can just place cats back into where the downpiped are and then remove them after the inspection. |

I believe AAM does have a catted down pipe option, you should try to reach out to them. Either that or find a local fabricator to make a catted down pipe for you.
