Replacement second hand throttle body?
Hey all,
My left hand throttle body is making a metallic rattling noise and I still have persistent throttle response delays (1 second at best, 6 seconds at worst). I suspect the throttle body is hosed. I have purchased a working second hand TB since Nissan wanted $1600 for a new one. I notice the TBs are electronic. My question is, is this plug and play? Or do I need get the ECU software edited to recognise the incoming TB? |

IIRC there is a learning process that you have to go through. If you can't find a DIY on this site, the FSM should have the procedure.

Google "throttle body relearn procedure 370z " and follow the idle air relearn and throttle pedal release procedures first then the relearn for the throttle bodies. It seems difficult when you're reading it but its really not that bad. It may take a few tries but you'll get it. You'll know for sure if its worked by the way your car will idle afterwards. Should be a very consistent idle around 800-900rpms (depending on mods and tuning) good luck brother. Also cleaning them front and back would help. That carbon build up doesn't take long to make the butterflies get sticky and out of sync

Thanks gents, I'm familiar with the relearn procedure from previous issues.
Was just worried that pairs of TB's might be electronically bound to the ECU by serial number or some such modern electronic nonsense |

They are not. A TB is a TB (as long as it is the right part number).

Ok guys. Installed, did the relearn and ECU reset for good measure. Drove fine for 10kms, but now it's throwing a Check Engine light, then 10 mins after that my traction control off light comes on.
Hooked it up to OBD2 reader, and have this message (P1233, TP SEN 1/CIRC-B2) Is the replacement hosed as well? |

Could be a wiring problem. Search the web for "P1233 +Nissan" for more info.

I was super careful installing the TB, followed standard procedure and disconnected the battery. I'll give it a good inspection in the morning, perhaps I've knocked a ground loose. |

hey guys, I also have the TB metal click noise when I press or release the gas paddle, but no throttle delay though. Is that a serious problem? Any suggestions? Thanks!
