Does Stillen Gen 3 CAI cause you to run lean?
So far I have Motordyne ART test pipes, AAM resonated short tails, and my next piece I would like is the Stillen Gen 3 CAI. I have read a few times it could cause you to run a tad lean but I know nothing of the subject and I would like some feedback before I purchase it. I am not able to afford a tune anytime soon either. With my upgrades right now how would the Stillen Gen 3 affect my car? average hp/torque increase with test pipes?

It very well could make you run lean. The rule of thumb is that you need a tune after the 3rd breathing mod.

Yeah man after I threw those on I started getting some black soot coming out of my exhaust tips. They throw off your AFR ratios a bit because they move the MAF sensors. During my tune they said I was a bit lean. Running lean can theoretically cause engine damage. But again, it depends how lean you're running and how hard you push your engine. If I were you, id wait until I had the money to do the tune as well or I would just get some drop ins and get like the AAM midpipe, you'd have a full catback with test pipes and you wouldn't need a tune.

Wait until you can do it and get it tuned. Also, if you have the oem csc in there, set aside the cost to replace it. These cars aren't cheap to run.

Wow thank you, I actually am at 72.5k miles right now and I read an average life of the csc is about that. Since I just literally learned what the csc is can you give me more info on it, cost to replace, and what to replace as a combo if my csc goes? cause I have been feeling my clutch not feeling 100% lol, I do drive the car a little hard

There's a million threads on the topic. The replacement part is 3-400 and the labor cost is whatever it costs for your local shop to r&r the transmission. Most people do a clutch and flywheel at the same time since the labor is the same. You need a new master cylinder at the same time. There's no average life on the csc. It has died when people test drive brand new cars. You're on borrowed time lol.

Mine didn't run lean with fast intentions cat back, resonated test pipes, and stillen gen 3. That doesn't mean yours won't though. Why don't you install t and then just go get a Dyno run done to see how much your making and what your a/f ratio is.
